This book is a pictorial guide arranged alphabetically by maker in most instances. although sometimes by material or function.  It begins with “all-bisque” and continues through A.M. (Armand Marseille), Bahr and Proschild, the Dressel firm, Heubach,  Kley & Hahn, through Jules Steiner, wax and wood dolls.  There is a section on china dolls, on boudoir dolls, lady of fashion dolls and many more.  Each doll is pictured and captioned with details about the date, maker, country of origin, materials, and the collection where it currently resides.  This book is the second of a two-book series on vintage dolls by this prolific author.  The categories remain the same as in the first book in this series, but the examples are, for the most part, new and different.  It is jam-packed with information and illustration, and makes an essential reference work for doll collectors, curators—or anyone who wants to evaluate or understand an existing doll collection.
